Once every six months I try to look up what’s going on with the former members of Elastica, one of my favorite bands. Some members are married (to each other, so that means two, I guess). One became a born-again Christian. But frontwoman Justine Frischmann sort of disappeared. She did live with M.I.A. in London for a bit, and helped her write some demos (one of which became “Galang”). A few years ago she moved to Colorado and started studying at a Buddhist University. When I did my last check, I found out she married one of her professors.

hi there i found your blog through a justine frischmann google alert. very enjoyable read i must say!
im surprised m.i.a. went to her wedding because i had heard they weren’t getting along after m.i.a got some popularity. i heard justine thought that m.i.a. got a big head.
anyway i always thought it was funny that brett, damon, luella bartley, and m.i.a all had some kind of intimate relationship with justine before any fame came to them and later became famous in some way.

I heard that too, so it’s great that they’ve patched things up, if there was a falling out in the first place. I think they could actually make really great stuff together. But I thought the same thing about her and Damon Albarn!
Thanks for your post. Elastica’s music was so so different and always reminds me of a great time in my life. Interesting how Justine went her own way (isn’t 1 of the band members still of unknown whereabouts?)
I hope Justine is happy, she/they deserve it for all the good times they brought us.
